Out in the channel, the clouds broke up. I spotted two nice fish in the low water. Soon the backing would be flying out..

Out in the channel, the clouds broke up. I spotted two nice fish in the low water. It's a good day when I got the cool to snap a couple of picture between the cast and the strike (I could lead these two quite a bit).

In the early afternoon, the tailers were still going strong. Here's a nice 6-7 pounder being reeled in, after making some strong runs, probably motivated by the grass on the leader.

How to maximize a bonefish run? Attach some grass to the leader, and often the bone will happily help you with that, leading the poor fish to see in the corner of his eye something chasing him.

Morning hours on the last day. The flat was filled with tailing fish, but they were spooky and picky. After three misses, I hook the fourth one.

While I was fighting the bone, new waves of tailers would approach, and I picked up the camera.. Obviously they eventually got too close and spooked, catching some interesting sunlight in their panicked splash..

Had to use the flash for the farewell shot of this one. Very nice size, in fact stupidily large for a 7 inch depth.

As the sun sank below the horizion, the flashing lights were gone. Not that it was difficult to see the fish anyway, as the wind had died completely. Nothing quite beats seeing tailing bonefish like this.

Hooking, fighting and spooking fish had no effect on the flat. It was still packed with tailers going about their business completely unfazed by the spectable I created.

And then it was over. As the last bonefish swam out, exhausted and with a sore lip, my bonefishing adventure was over. What a way to end the trip. See you soon, Abaco!
